From a tournament director, regarding Southwind: "I don't pass out many compliments, but I wanted to send one along to you and your club. I had several of your teams last weekend and the conduct of the coaches, players and parents stands out. Your coaches are curtious, the players did a good job of officiating, the coaches supported them, and the parents supported the teams and players. In a time, when it seems like all coaches and club directors hear is negative, you are doing a good job. Keep it up."

Southwind Volleyball Club woud like to congraulate our U14-1 coach Nelle Couch who was recently named the head varsity coach of Notre Dame de Sion. She will be looking to fill positions at Sion for varsity assistant, junior varsity head coach, and freshman head coach. Congrutlations to all the girls for a competitive weekend, what an exciting day to watch all our Southwind talent. The Gryffindor division did not finish with a tournament but had a full day of competitive volleyball.

Lincoln Butler joined us December 22, 2009, all 6lbs and 30 oz, at 8:24 pm. David Butler has coached with Southwind the past two seasons. This is David and Cherryh's first child. Congratulations and many blessings.



Congratulations to our coaches Jordan Lockwood and Beth Bruemmer (11.28.09)
Southwind Volleyball Club would like to congratulate Jordan Lockwood, U12 blue assistant coach, and Beth Bruemmer, U14 white head coach for their appearance at the National Championship competition for the Junior College Athletic Association. Jordan and Beth are members of the Johnson County Community College Varsity Volleyball squad, both played on the National Junior College Athletic Association 2nd place team from last season. This year the team earned a trip to the National competition and took 6th place in the nation in the Junior College Division. In addition to being great coaches both are outstanding athletes.

Payment Plan for the 2009-2010 Season (11.10.09)
Below you will find the payment plans for each team... the first payment is due at the first practice. We will also need the following items at the first practice. Membership form from Heart of America. (Players will need to go to the HOA website to register on line and download the membership form. Please be sure to read it and sign the form, both player and parent.) Please bring your USA Medical Release form as well.

Payment on-line includes a pay pal fee of 2.9% along with a .30 cent transaction fee. If for some reason there must be a refund after an on-line payment it will be made by check and the pay pal fee will not be included.

Update of Southwind Teams (11.7.09)
Due to the number of athletes at the U11 tryout there were not enough players to field two squads at this age. We will only be carrying one squad at the U11 division. This squad will be listed as the U11 Red (practices will be adjusted on the calendar page.) Peggy Rose will be be the U11 read head coach.

We have also made a coaching change at our U12 age division. Jackie Hisle will be head coaching our U12 Blue squad with Jordan Lockwood assistant coaching. (practices will be adjusted on the calendar page.) There will be more information to follow soon. Please continue to check our website for updates.

Individual Registration for all Junior Players

For all players that will be trying out for Southwind and for players that have already made a commitment to play on a Southwind team please do the following:

The online registration part for junior players is now available. Go to the HOA webiste and under “Hot Topics” select “Manage Indv Info” or CLICK HERE. Everybody using this for the first time, select “Add New Indv Info” and enter your registration information (there is no data from last year that the system can find). Once you have entered your info, click “Add”. Now you will be able to print your “Tryout Insurance Form” (sign and take a copy to all tryouts you attend) and the “Individual Registration Form” (sign and submit to the club you are going to play for).

Exciting Update for our U15 teams! (11.04.09) We are excited to announce that in addition to the teams we are already carrying at the U15 division we have added another regional gold team. This team will be coached by David Butler and Nelle Couch. More information on our tryouts page.

U17/18 Red Regional Gold (11.04.09)
We are sorry to inform you but Southwind Volleyball will NOT be carrying a U17/18 team for the 2009-2010 season.

Congratulations to Hayley Hansford! (10.16.09)
Southwind would like to congratulate Hayley Hansford, Shawnee Mission East, for her #1 standing of assist in the state of Kansas. She is currenlty ranked 16th in the nation for assists. Hayley is currently the setter on Southwind's 161 National/Open squad for the 2009-2010 season.

Important Dates for the 2009 - 2010 season (9.21.09)
Tribal Gathering: Friday, November 20th 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm Mandatory Pot Luck dinner for all Southwind families. Agenda for the evening includes dinner, overview of club policies for parents and players, and guest keynote speaker Bill Cordes.

Officiating Clinic: Saturday, December 5th 9:00 am - 3:00 pm Mandatory for all Southwind Athletes and parent reps of each team. Agenda for the day includes overview of officiating as well as testing over the material. Every Southwind athlete must attend this clinic! (This is the only additional expense, we ask athletes to bring $5 to help cover study material as well as lunch and snacks for the day.)

Returned Check Policy (10.12.09)
With the number of checks we receive we are finding a few insuffient funds. If a check is returned due to insuffient funds the athlete will not be able to participate until the payment is made and there will be a $25.00 fee due in addition to the payment.
