The Southwind Volleyball Club is committed to assisting
youth coaches in training athletes by providing Coaching Clinics for both the Johnson County and Blue Valley Parks and Recreation Districts. Southwind offers clinics for youth coaches and/or coaches new to the sport.
Both new and experienced coaches will gain great coaching philosophies
for games and drills for practices. Workout attire is suggested as participants
learn to teach skills and drills by being involved and working with one
another on the court. Participants will also gain a better understanding
of the game during classroom instruction.
Topics covered at the Coaching Clinics include drills for teaching basic skills, offensive & defensive drills, drills designed to help players make decisions, game coaching, and personal coaching philosophy.
Participants will also be introduced to offensive and defensive systems as well as determining which systems will best serve their team.
Clinics usually run 3 1/2 hours and cost varies from $20 - $55 depending on length of clinic and location. Continue to check back for more information about our upcoming coaching clinics.
Coaching clinic for Johnson County Parks and Recreation Department is scheduled for Sunday, August 16th, 2009. We will meet at the Okun Field house, 20200 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas from 1:00 pm till 4:30 pm for Youth and Novice coaches. We are adding an additional clinic for High School and Advance Youth coaches from 4:45 pm till 7:15 pm. Coaches need to come ready to participate, coaches attending the clinic will be working through the skills and drills as if they were the players. To download a flyer to register click here!
Coaching clinic for Blue Valley Parks and Recreation Department is scheduled for Saturday, August 22nd, 2009. Preseason Volleyball Coaching Clinic... Come dressed and ready to play! The Southwind Staff will be working coaches through basic skills while teaching novice coaches communication techniques and drills to help them develop their own volleyball squad. Emphasis will be placed on practice planning and basic skills training for young players. This clinic is scheduled to run from 8:00 am till 11:00 am and followed by player clinics, coaches are invited to come and watch player clinics to see how the skills are worked into a practice environment.
