Southwind Volleyball host many camps, clinics, classes and training opportunities. Take a look at all the programs we offer throughout the year.
Throughout the year: Individual and Team training. Southwind has worked with athletes of all ages with an emphasis on junior high and high school students. Southwind also offers a player diagnostic/analysis that includes a CD rom produced during the analysis breaking down the athlete's performance and showing areas to improve. In addition to the Individual and team training for young athletes Southwind also host Adult clinics and Coaching clinics. Southwind Volleyball Club works with teams outside the club to develop team cohesion with Team Building clinics. Southwind also offers a volleyball class for home educated students each wednesday afternoon during the school year.
November - April: Junior Olympic Season with tryouts in early to mid-November and practices and competition through mid-April. Southwind carries numerous teams from U10 through U18.
November - February: Winter league with Southwind. Currently Southwind does not carry winter teams outside of the Junior Olympic teams but is working towards providing league opportunities for 6th thru 8th graders who do not participate in Junior Olympics.
December: Winter Break Camps. During the school break Southwind Volleyball works with Johnson County Parks and Recreation District and the Blue Valley Parks and Recreation Department to run a winter break camp for elementary and junior high athletes.
January - April: Volleyball Class: Working with Merriam Parks and Recreation Department Southwind Volleyball offers class once a week, usually Saturday mornings, for elementary and junior high athletes.
March: Spring Break Camps. During the school break Southwind Volleyball works with Johnson County Parks and Recreation District and the Blue Valley Parks and Recreation Department to run a winter break camp for elementary and junior high athletes.
March - April: Volleytime Class. Working with Blue Valley Parks and Recreation Department Southwind Volleyball offers class once a week, usually Thursday evenings, for elementary and junior high athletes.
March - April: Spring league with Southwind. Currently Southwind does not carry spring teams outside of the Junior Olympic teams but is working towards providing league opportunities for 6th thru 8th graders who do not participate in Junior Olympics.
April - July: Post Junior Olympic Season. For Junior Olympic teams that earn a bid to the National competition (each year held in a different city) their season finishes in late June or early July. Practices continue after the regional championship tournament as well as participation in various Southwind programs to help prepare each athlete for competition.
May Camps: After the Junior Olympic regular season and Spring league Southwind offers fundamental camps for athletes of all ages in our May camps.
June - July: Summer Intensity Program. Southwind host a 7 week training program where athletes meet twice a week for 3 hour sessions. Program includes speed, agility, and strength training as well as volleyball training. Athletes leave the program with a better knowledge of the game, stronger skills, mental toughness and in great shape.
June - July: Summer league with Southwind. During the summer months Southwind offers summer leagues to allow athletes an opportunity to practice their skills while competing. The summer league is designed for athletes who play multiple sports with only one practice a week.
June - July: South league teams. For athletes who have been committed to play (or being consider to play) with Southwind Volleyball Club during the club season we offer competitive teams in the South league competition.
July and August: The weeks prior to school competition, late summer, Southwind host various camps for beginners as well as intermediate and advance players.
August - October: Fall league with Southwind. For athletes who do not have school volleyball programs Southwind offers the fall league teams. With volleyball being the primary sport in the school setting Southwind manages the fall teams with an expectation of being the primary sport for that season. Expectations for athletes and families include making accommodations to attend team practices and competition.
September - April: Homeschool Volleyball Class: During the school year Southwind Volleyball Club offers a class for students that are home educated. Class is held for elementary thru high school students.
October: October Training (Camps/Training). In preparation for Junior Olympic tryouts Southwind offers camp (training sessions) for volleyball athletes.
